What else do you do besides play on Sundays?

Petanque club members and players meet once a week on Sundays and for those who want to play more often in Summer a small group of players meet after work every second day depending on numbers. All are welcome to join in.

But there is more......

The Capital Petanque Club runs tournaments on a regular basis. These are mostly low key social events combined with a BBQ and are usually played in a format where experienced players are partnered with beginners. We have done this in 2009 and this was very popular and a good introduction for new players to get involved in some proper Petanque.

Once a year the club in conjunction with the Lerida Estate Winery runs a big tournament for the more serious Petanque players. This tournament is played on the shores of Lake George at the beautiful Lerida Winery. Petanque players from interstate attend this event and it is a (PFA) Petanque Federation of Australia approved tournament. To play in this one you need to be a licensed player through the club. Despite all this it is an event that is open to anybody who wants to play in it and we encourage club players who want to have a go at some tournament standard games to step up to the plate and have some serious fun. All you need to do is be licensed and you are in. Do not be intimidated by the pros just go in there and do your best. It is a fun filled 2 day event with prizes and prize money up for grabs. If nothing more the location and the winery makes for an ideal venue. I call it Petanque heaven.

All upcoming events will be advertised here in the near future. Keep an eye on this page.

Petanque............

a simple game that can be enjoyed by everyone.

It takes only minutes to learn to play.

No expensive equipment, just 3 boules and you are ready to play.

A game but also a sport.

You don't have to be a supreme athlete to play Petanque well.

A social game where players become friends.

A family game where Mum and Dad can play with the kids.

Hours of fun.

A very pleasant pastime.

You can play all year round.

Expensive? not at all.

If you play it as a sport it can be challenging and demanding requiring skill, determination and perseverence.

It's always about having fun.

Some would say that playing Petanque with a glass of wine in one hand while throwing a boule with the other is regarded as good form..........
